Muḥarram opens the Islamic year and is one of the four sacred months in which fighting is forbidden. The Prophet ﷺ called it the month of Allah and said its fasts are the most virtuous after those of Ramaḍān. Its tenth day, the Day of ʿĀshūrā, carries immense merit and history.
